Don't let its 891-hp 4.0-liter twin-turbo V-8 fool you. The McLaren Senna was not built for straight line speed. With ultra-wide sticky tires, brakes big enough to eat off, and enough working aero to shame a GT3 cup car, the Senna was destined for corners. But it can still put up one hell of a quarter-mile time.
The folks at EKanoo Racking in Bahrain brought a totally stock McLaren Senna to a drag strip last week to find out just how quickly it could go in a straight line. According to the video's description, the driver attempted to find drag radials that would fit, but failed. So they ran the car's factory Pirelli P Zero Trofeo Rs—not exactly the type of rubber you'd want for outright straight-line grip.
Despite that, the car was able to put up an impressive 9.99-second quarter-mile at 141 mph. In addition to that engine, the car had help from its dual-clutch transmission and launch control system to get all of the torque to the asphalt.
The video's publisher says that with a set of proper rubber, they'd be able to cut another few tenths from that quarter-mile time. Here's to hoping they source a set soon and bring the Senna back to find out.
